For a few days, walking through El Gancho will feel almost like visiting an open-air art gallery. Facades, walls, windows and everyday corners will become canvases for artists from Zaragoza, elsewhere in Spain, Brazil and Argentina to let their imaginations run free. This time, however, the works will be shaped not only by what the artists want to express, but also by the stories of people who live in the neighborhood.
During the summer months, Aragon’s medieval calendar is one of the busiest. Almost every municipality in the region takes a journey back to the Middle Ages, recreating old medieval markets and minstrel shows in its streets. Although summer is drawing to a close and many may think these fairs have ended for the season, this town in the heart of the Pyrenees will have its turn in early autumn.
