Under the title "From Shadow to Light," the project aims to make the concert more than a conventional performance. Throughout the work, the singers themselves will change their positions within the space to accompany the Requiem’s different emotional phases and take the audience from an initial atmosphere of darkness to an ending marked by light.
Trotta’s composition thus creates a dialogue between memory, loss and hope, with a staging in which the church itself will also play an important role. Music, movement and architecture will combine to reinforce the symbolic transition that gives the experience its name.
Plenum Ensemble, founded in 2023 and made up of ten singers, has carried out much of its work in towns across Zaragoza’s central district and has also collaborated with choral groups from France and the Basque Country. According to the project dossier, this Requiem is its most ambitious undertaking to date.
They will be joined by Víctor Mazzilli, principal organist at San Miguel de los Navarros and a graduate of the Aragón Higher Conservatory of Music, who will accompany the ensemble during the performance. The concert will begin at 8:00 p.m. Admission will be free until capacity is reached, and afterward those who wish may make a donation to support the group and the parish’s social outreach work.
