Real Zaragoza fans have once again sold out an away allocation at a very particular venue. In a few weeks, Los Blanquillos will travel to face Club Esportiu Europa, with 700 supporters signed up for the trip. The takeover of the stadium will be almost complete in practical terms, despite the inconvenient date: Friday, October 23, at 9:15 p.m. at Can Dragó.
Last season’s disgraceful match between S.D. Huesca and Real Zaragoza at El Alcoraz continues to have repercussions. After attracting global attention, mainly due to Esteban Andrada’s assault on Jorge Pulido, the Anti-Violence Commission—officially the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport—proposed sanctions this past Monday against supporters of the white-and-blue club over incidents before the match.
Real Zaragoza's final league match of October will be away against C.E. Europa on October 23 at 21:15, bringing the Blanquillos' three-match run away from Ibercaja Estadio to an end. However, Zaragoza fans traveling to the game must take into account a ban imposed by the Barcelona club. It should be noted that this initiative is not related to Zaragoza's visit, but is a regular practice for the Escapulats.
The first Aragonese clash of the season at Ibercaja Estadio between Real Zaragoza and Teruel was a spectacular show of support. The modular stadium drew 17,255 spectators, the second-highest attendance of the weekend across Spanish football, behind Real Sporting de Gijón-Celta Fortuna, which attracted 18,939 fans.
Days ago, it emerged that Real Zaragoza had removed Diego Tiberio, coach of the Cadete B team, over “demeaning treatment” of several players, prompting their parents to report the alleged incidents. As a result, the coach has officially announced his resignation.
Jaume Jardí is once again among the candidates to be named the best player of the matchday in Primera RFEF. The Real Zaragoza winger has been nominated for the MVP award for the sixth matchday after once again playing a decisive role in the latest victory over Teruel. His outstanding performance gives him a chance to win the recognition for the second time in just six matchdays, having already claimed it after his display in Torremolinos.
Rubén Díez, known as 'Jamelli', has become vital to Real Zaragoza's attacking play as the attacking midfielder linking up with the front three. His importance now appears indispensable to Ibai Gómez, who seems unable to imagine a starting lineup without the Torrero native.
Real Zaragoza must visit one of their closest rivals in the fight for promotion to Segunda, Atlético Madrileño. The match will be played this Sunday at 9:00 p.m. at the Centro Deportivo Alcalá de Henares, and the red-and-white club has announced that the game is sold out.
Little more can be said, in the best possible sense, about Real Zaragoza’s fans. Despite everything they have endured and continue to endure, they have never stopped supporting a team that has given them very few reasons to smile in recent years. It is precisely during one of the darkest years in the club’s history that Zaragoza’s supporters have rallied most strongly, and Rafael Escrig, one of Spain’s leading content creators and journalists, has documented part of the fans’ overall sentiment on his YouTube channel.
Real Zaragoza returned to training on Monday after a commanding 4-1 win over Club Deportivo Teruel. The team held its traditional recovery session, with starters and substitutes working in separate groups and at different intensities. Sem Westerveld, who missed the last match with discomfort, trained with the goalkeepers and is expected to return between the posts this Sunday.
The Copa del Rey first round is just around the corner, and Real Zaragoza already know their opponent: Club Deportivo Tudelano, a Segunda RFEF side. Although the date and time have not yet been confirmed, the first round is expected to take place from October 27 to 29.
The Copa del Rey returns with strong representation from Aragon. Real Zaragoza, S.D. Huesca, Utebo, Calamocha, Cuarte and Atlético Calatayud will take part. Regional derbies are possible, while the latter teams await a La Liga opponent.
Real Zaragoza's victory over Teruel brought attention to the praise lavished on nine Blanquillos players. Nine, no more and no less. The team's coach, Ibai Gómez, had personalized praise for more than half of the footballers who played in the 4-1 victory.
Real Zaragoza coach Ibai Gómez had anticipated it, and the club has now confirmed it: Iker Vadillo is injured. A brief medical report states that the player has suffered a muscle injury and, initially, will be unavailable for at least this week. The information provided does not allow an estimated recovery time to be established.
Matchday 6 of Primera RFEF ended with Real Zaragoza beating Teruel 4-1 at Ibercaja Estadio, sending the Blanquillos to the top of the table after their fifth consecutive league victory.
Sem Westerveld and Iker Vadillo have been left out of Real Zaragoza’s squad for Sunday’s match against Club Deportivo Teruel. The goalkeeper, a regular in coach Ibai Gómez’s plans, and the forward are both sidelined with discomfort, according to the club. Anartz or Manolache will serve as the reserve goalkeeper.
The fifth straight win. Real Zaragoza beat Teruel 4-1 to claim another three points after coming from behind. Sergio Moreno's early goal put the Blanquillos under pressure, but they turned the game around with goals from Ureña, Espiau, Pau Sans and Jardí.
Step by step, victory by victory, Real Zaragoza are now where they are expected to be after dropping to the third tier: top of the table. Ibai Gómez’s side secured their fifth consecutive win by beating Club Deportivo Teruel, who competed strongly for long stretches but faded as the match wore on. The 4-1 victory, played in front of a vibrant crowd at Ibercaja Estadio, sees Zaragoza go top of the group and, consequently, into direct promotion.
Real Zaragoza coach Ibai Gómez conveyed equal parts strength and joy after the team's fifth consecutive win. Against Club Deportivo Teruel, the Blanquillos won 4-1 and moved, at least temporarily, into a lead they do not want to surrender. “Back to work tomorrow because we want the sixth,” the coach said.
Real Zaragoza has stood down a youth team coach, specifically from the Cadete B, over the “degrading treatment” of his players. The parents of the 14-year-olds reported the matter to the training ground, which took the preventive measure. He did not coach the team this Saturday in their match against Racing Zaragoza, which kicked off at 12:30 p.m. The coach joined Real Zaragoza from that club this summer. A final decision is now pending.
