Real Zaragoza fans take over Can Dragó

Real Zaragoza fans have once again sold out an away allocation at a very particular venue. In a few weeks, Los Blanquillos will travel to face Club Esportiu Europa, with 700 supporters signed up for the trip. The takeover of the stadium will be almost complete in practical terms, despite the inconvenient date: Friday, October 23, at 9:15 p.m. at Can Dragó.

Although Europa are a team from Barcelona's Gracia neighborhood, they are playing their matches at Can Dragó this season. The Barcelona side have been forced to take this measure because their stadium is not suitable, swapping their usual central location for the outskirts. In fact, Real Zaragoza fans will be closer to Sant Andreu than to their usual area.

Another curiosity is that the stadium has a capacity of 3,000 spectators. Therefore, even if the remaining seats were filled, Real Zaragoza fans would occupy almost 25% of the stadium. However, the stadium's average attendance this season is 1,848 spectators.

This would mean that Real Zaragoza fans would account for almost 40% of the stadium's total attendance. It would be a complete takeover of the match for a Blanquillo side that would appear to be playing at home.

THE MATCH

The match has been scheduled for Friday, October 23, at 9:15 p.m. against an Europa side that have yet to get going. They have managed just one win, along with one draw and as many as four defeats. They occupy, logically enough, a relegation position.

Meanwhile, Real Zaragoza would arrive at this point after two consecutive away matches. This would be the third. It is a run that begins this weekend against Atlético Madrileño, continues against Real Murcia and concludes against Europa.

So there are numerous factors to consider. In these circumstances, at least, Real Zaragoza look set to be well supported. They will have to repay that support with a victory.
