According to the Cabildo, the problem does not affect all the ribbons that were sold. "Some have had problems with the screen printing, but not all of them," the institution said, describing the reported incidents as limited in scope. In fact, some ribbons have retained their original appearance, while others have lost part of the printed designs and lettering.
The Cabildo has already contacted the manufacturer to try to determine what happened. The ribbons had passed the required quality controls before going on sale, so the origin of the defects remains unknown. "We are investigating to find out what may have happened," the institution said, adding that it will not order a new batch until it has guarantees that the usual quality standards will be met.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU BOUGHT A DEFECTIVE GREEN RIBBON?
Those who purchased one of these ribbons and detect problems can go to the shop at the Basilica of the Pillar. The Cabildo confirmed to ARAGÓN DIGITAL that those who filed a complaint were offered the option of exchanging the ribbon for one in a different color or receiving a refund. The dark green ribbon cost one euro, the same as the other available colors.

For now, this version is not on sale. Its launch was met with such strong demand that stocks sold out in just a few days, and the Cabildo has not marketed it for more than a month. The first complaints began arriving after supplies ran out. Nevertheless, the institution confirmed that it will distribute the ribbon again once the problem has been resolved. "Once this matter has been resolved and everything is guaranteed, the green ribbon is here to stay," it said.
The new color was added to the Virgin of the Pillar’s ribbon collection as an alternative to the traditional blue, white, pink and red ribbons, among others. Its dark green shade is associated with Ordinary Time in the liturgical calendar and symbolizes hope and a life of faith. The Cabildo points out that, regardless of the wear the screen printing may suffer with use, these ribbons retain their devotional meaning for those who wear them.
