One of the main disruptions will occur on Avenida San José, near number 79, where a new wastewater connection will be installed between October 26 and 29. The works will occupy the pavement between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., forcing pedestrians to use the opposite side. Both lanes between Cesáreo Alierta and Emilio Castelar, in the direction of the latter street, will also be occupied.
Traffic and urban buses will be diverted via the auxiliary lanes of Cesáreo Alierta and Calle Escultor Félix Burriel. To facilitate bus turns, parking will be prohibited from number 10 on Félix Burriel to Cesáreo Alierta. In addition, the stop located at number 69 on Avenida San José will be temporarily suspended, with the changes coordinated with Avanza.
FULL TRAFFIC CLOSURE ON CALLE LA PAZ
There will also be significant changes on Calle Emilio Castelar, which will only be accessible from Mor de Fuentes during the works. The section between Avenida San José and Mor de Fuentes will become a dead end and operate in both directions to allow access to the affected speed bump. Parking will also be prohibited throughout this area for the duration of the works.
Another major disruption will begin on Monday on Calle La Paz, where wastewater repairs are scheduled to continue until November 6. The work will result in the complete closure of the street to general traffic, which will be diverted via León XIII and Paseo de las Damas. It will therefore be one of the key points to bear in mind for those travelling through central Zaragoza in the coming days.
Calle La Paz will become a dead end and operate in both directions solely to allow vehicles to enter and leave garages, from both Paseo Sagasta and Héroes del Silencio. Authorized vehicles belonging to people with reduced mobility will also be allowed to enter. Parking will be prohibited along the affected section throughout the intervention.
WORKS ON TORRES QUEVEDO AND LUCES DE CIUDAD
Works will also reach Calle Leonardo Torres Quevedo, where a wastewater connection will be repaired near number 32 between October 26 and 29. The work will affect the pavement and part of the roadway, so pedestrians will have to cross to the opposite side. In addition, parking spaces in front of numbers 30 and 34 will be temporarily removed, including part of the loading and unloading area.
On Calle Luces de Ciudad, between October 26 and 30, an electricity duct crossing will be carried out near number 37. To maintain traffic during the works, approximately 40 metres of angled parking will have to be prohibited, although the City Council expects traffic to continue throughout the intervention.
These projects will be joined by other works already under way or scheduled in Zaragoza, including the replacement of the water supply pipe on Calle Luis Buñuel, planned to continue until October 30; the demolition of a water chamber on Calle La Virgen, in Montañana; and resurfacing works currently under way on Calle El Bodegón.
LIMITED DISRUPTIONS ON DUQUESA VILLAHERMOSA AND PASEO DE TERUEL
There will also be two shorter interventions on Monday, October 26. On Duquesa Villahermosa, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., a drain located at the pedestrian crossing near number 15 will be replaced. The work will occupy the left lane heading towards Vía Universitas, although traffic will continue in the right lane and pedestrian access will be maintained.
That same day, between 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., the covers of two utility access points will be repaired on Paseo de Teruel, next to the pedestrian crossing near Hernán Cortés. The work will occupy the right-hand lane reserved for buses and taxis, while traffic will continue in the left lane and areas will be provided to maintain pedestrian access.
Zaragoza City Council recommends checking the changes before travelling and paying attention to temporary signage. Information on the progress of the works and diversions will be updated through the municipal portal 'Zaragoza se transforma', the city's WhatsApp channels and the websites of Avanza and Tranvías de Zaragoza, particularly for works involving changes to public transport.
