Concern grows among Zaragoza businesses over possible Blocus violence: "It's not fear, but uncertainty"

Possible unrest could erupt in Zaragoza during the Blocus gathering planned for the night of October 31. Following events in Barcelona and Bilbao, concern has grown among residents and businesses in the Aragonese capital for both Friday and Saturday.

Alfonso Street, one of the busiest thoroughfares and home to a large number of shops, is an area where unrest could occur because of its location. Although shopkeepers are not really afraid, they do feel "concern" amid the uncertainty. However, several of them have no plans to close early because of possible disturbances.

Jewelry stores are the businesses most likely to fall victim to robberies, although the current view is that several of them will remain open and, if anything genuinely problematic happens, they will "pull down the shutters." However, these businesses are not planning to change their opening hours.

THE POLICE OPERATION

The National Police have been monitoring the gathering for several days and have been assessing whether the threat is real. For now, no operation has been confirmed, but given that even Natalia Chueca has warned about Blocus, an operation is expected to be prepared to prevent any kind of disturbance.

"I am very concerned about this situation," the mayor said. Last Wednesday, she explained that she had sent a letter to the minister to find out what information the State Security Forces and Corps had and what measures would be adopted.
