After the All Saints’ Day holiday, roadworks return: these are the affected streets in Zaragoza

The All Saints’ Day holiday will be followed by a new week of roadworks in the Aragonese capital. From Tuesday, November 3, several parts of the city will experience traffic changes due to the renewal of sewer networks, electrical conduits and other basic services. Some projects, such as the work on Manuel Lasala, will last several weeks, while others will take place between Tuesday and Friday.

Zaragoza City Council has announced the impacts on road traffic, pedestrians and cyclists. The councillor responsible for Infrastructure and Mobility, José Miguel Rodrigo, has asked residents to exercise extreme caution and to "pay attention to the temporary signs" to avoid road safety problems. These are the streets and times to bear in mind.

FERNANDO EL CATÓLICO TO CLOSE THIS SATURDAY

The first operation will take place this Saturday, October 31, on paseo Fernando el Católico, at number 9, next to the tram line. A telecommunications manhole cover will be replaced, making it necessary to close traffic at the junction with San Juan de la Cruz between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Vehicles will have to detour via Félix Latassa, while those arriving from Mariano Barbasán will be able to use Cortes de Aragón as an alternative. The operation will be coordinated with Avanza and Zaragoza Tramways.

MANUEL LASALA TO REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL THE END OF DECEMBER

Starting Tuesday, November 3, work will begin to replace the sewer collector on Manuel Lasala, as part of the regeneration work on the Huerva River corresponding to Lot 1. The project will require the road to be closed between San Juan de la Cruz and Cosme Blasco for almost two months, until December 23.

During this period, the section will become a dead end and will have two-way traffic from Cosme Blasco to allow access to the crossing at number 2. Parking will also be prohibited throughout the affected area, so drivers should pay close attention to the signs.

AVENIDA VALENCIA WORKS WILL AFFECT TOMÁS BRETÓN

The service renewal work underway on avenida de Valencia will also extend to Tomás Bretón between November 3 and 26. The works will affect the section between Maestro Serrano and García Sánchez, where traffic arrangements will be modified as the project progresses.

In this case, Zaragoza City Council says that one traffic lane will remain open at all times to ensure the passage of vehicles and city buses. Therefore, although traffic distribution will change, a full closure of the street is not expected.

AVENIDA MADRID WILL ALSO BE AFFECTED

The first phase of an electrical conduit installation will be carried out on avenida de Madrid, near plaza de la Ciudadanía, from November 3 to 6. The work will take place next to the Aljafería Palace, in the direction of the aforementioned square, and will require the roadway to be crossed in sections.

The project will require the bike lane to be closed, although one lane will always remain open to road traffic. The operation will be coordinated with Avanza and the Transport Consortium.

WORKS ON FRAY JOSÉ CASANOVA AND AVENIDA CIUDAD DE SORIA

Electrical conduit work will also be carried out on Fray José Casanova, near avenida Ciudad de Soria, between November 3 and 6. The project will be completed in phases and will require parking to be prohibited for 25 meters on both sides to ensure one traffic lane in each direction.

The work will begin on the half of the roadway heading toward avenida Ciudad de Soria. When the project moves to the direction of Puerta de Sancho, the bike lane will be closed and the right lane of avenida Ciudad de Soria, toward avenida de la Expo 2008, will also be occupied to facilitate bus turns.

WORKS ON CESÁREO ALIERTA

The last of the projects scheduled between November 3 and 6 will take place on avenida Cesáreo Alierta, where a new discharge connection will be installed. The work will occupy the right lane between Mor de Fuentes and avenida de San José, in the direction of central Zaragoza. Despite this occupation, two lanes will remain open to traffic, and right turns from the central lane will be permitted, in coordination with Avanza.
