For Zaragoza en Común, there are elements that must be investigated and clarified, particularly regarding Quiles’ supporters being allowed onto the campus even though the University of Zaragoza had not authorized the event, the police charges against the gathering opposing it and the subsequent police escort of Quiles to Plaza San Francisco. "It must be investigated why agitator Vito Quiles was escorted while the people gathered there were beaten. It must be clarified why this action was taken," said the group’s spokesperson, Elena Tomás.
At the meeting, ZeC formally requested that disciplinary proceedings be opened if necessary, as well as an urgent, thorough and independent internal investigation to determine the possible responsibilities of the officers involved and the chain of command that designed, authorized and supervised the operation. "We demand an investigation into what happened on October 22, that responsibilities be established and that the necessary measures be taken to prevent it from happening again," Elena Tomás explained.
Zaragoza en Común insists that security and public order cannot become an excuse to restrict fundamental rights or justify actions that fail to respect the principles of proportionality. Elena Tomás stressed her concern about the demonstrations and the strike called for November 11, so that this does not happen again.
