The initiative is part of Zaragoza City Council’s special program for November 1, a day when the cemetery will host concerts, theater, storytelling and other cultural activities under the slogan "We Are Also a City."
WHERE TO FIND ZARAGOZA’S TREE OF FORGETTING
The activity will take place at the Tree of Forgetting, located in the so-called Cemetery of Fears, within Torrero Cemetery. To find it, visitors should enter through the Old Gate and head to Walkway B, Section 6, where the space for this activity will be set up.
The process is simple: anyone wishing to take part can write their fears on a ribbon and tie it to the tree’s branches. The gesture is intended to offer a moment of reflection and help people find peace and tranquility. The activity will be open to everyone and completely free of charge.
A DIFFERENT WAY TO EXPERIENCE ALL SAINTS’ DAY
Although November 1 is usually associated with visits to graves and remembering deceased relatives, this proposal invites people to experience the date from another perspective. Rather than focusing solely on the memory of those who are no longer here, "Here I Leave My Fear" suggests looking at the emotions of cemetery visitors and giving them a space through a symbolic gesture.
The activity is part of the city’s program aimed at presenting Torrero Cemetery as a place of heritage, remembrance and community gathering.
MORE FREE ACTIVITIES AT TORRERO CEMETERY
All Saints’ Day will include other activities for all audiences. At 10:30 a.m., the Salduie Choir will perform next to the Joaquín Costa Mausoleum, followed at 11:00 a.m. by the Zaragoza Municipal Band at the Covid Monument.
There will also be a children’s storytelling session at 11:30 a.m., concerts at noon and a dramatization featuring notable figures between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. All these activities will be free, as will the exhibitions and cultural tours included in the special All Saints’ Day program.
In this way, Torrero Cemetery will offer an opportunity to explore Zaragoza’s history, enjoy culture and, in the case of the Tree of Forgetting, pause for a few moments to think about what each person would like to leave behind.
