The deployment of these systems is primarily intended to increase security, help prevent crimes and antisocial behavior, and significantly improve the authorities' ability to respond to emergencies, risks or incidents requiring immediate intervention.

In addition, combining video surveillance with artificial intelligence-powered video analytics will also make it possible, where appropriate, to gather valuable information for urban management, supporting data-based decision-making and the optimization of municipal resources, always in strict compliance with data protection regulations and fundamental rights.

WHAT THE CONTRACT INVOLVES

The Aragonese capital currently has 44 cameras, and it was officially announced in October that this number would increase to almost 200 devices. This is therefore the tender contract to carry out that expansion. The recordings are not viewed live and are only provided to the police or judicial authorities when requested for the relevant proceedings. The municipal objective is to expand coverage and speed up deployment, with neighborhood security as the main argument.

The contract also specifies that one or several companies may be selected under this tender, as it is a long-term plan that must begin at a very early stage with the design, maintenance and installation.

The City Council has a budget of €3,554,254, including VAT, and the contract will last four years, as mentioned above. Interested companies may submit their bids until next November 24.
