Chueca on Arcosur protest: 'There is a commitment to extend the tram line'

Arcosur will once again highlight its mobility problems on November 22, when residents take to the streets to demand better public transport connections with the rest of Zaragoza. The protest, called by the Arqueros Residents' Association, follows more than a year of demands and proposals to improve bus services and bring the tram to the district. Zaragoza Mayor Natalia Chueca has responded to the mobilization by defending the city's commitment to the neighborhood and assuring that she remains in constant contact with residents.

In this regard, Chueca recalled that both Zaragoza City Council and the Government of Aragon are working to promote the extension of Tram Line 1 to Arcosur. A technical study is currently being carried out alongside the University to analyze the various alternatives and determine which would be the most suitable. "We are committed to promoting the extension of Tram Line 1," she said.

The mayor also announced that Arcosur's connections will be among the priorities of the new urban bus contract. As she explained, one of the first improvements to be implemented once the contract is awarded will specifically be to reinforce the lines and frequencies serving the district.

In this regard, in response to residents' complaints, Chueca insisted that communication with them is ongoing and highlighted her government's commitment to the district's growth. "Communication is very fluid and continuous, and they know that our commitment has always been with Arcosur," she concluded.
