The mobilization will affect the Zaragoza, Huesca and Teruel campuses and seeks to bring demands related to access to housing and the conditions of the educational community to the university sphere. Organizers link this issue to public university funding and the working conditions of its employees.
HOUSING, SCHOLARSHIPS AND UNIVERSITY FUNDING
Student demands include reopening the Santa Isabel University Residence Hall, reducing and limiting the prices of university residences and housing for young people, and rejecting the construction of new private residences in Aragon. They are also calling for income to be the only financial requirement for accessing scholarships, more places in qualifying master's degrees and progress toward free university education.
In the labor sphere, the Committee is calling, among other measures, for salary increases linked to the actual CPI, improvements in the working and pay conditions of University of Zaragoza staff, and additional payments for teaching and research staff (PDI) to bring their salaries closer to the average in other autonomous communities. It is also asking for the 2027-2030 Global Funding Model to include sufficient allocations to address these demands.
The call has also been used to announce the consolidation of the University of Zaragoza Committee of Workers and Students itself, which is urging students and workers to take part in activities ahead of the strike day. In the youth and student sphere, the initiative is being promoted by Frente de Estudiantes, Contracorriente, Abrir Brecha and Estudiantes en Defensa de la Universidad, and in the trade union sphere by CGT Unizar, SOMOS, CCOO Unizar and UGT Unizar.
