This session explained to all the assistants participating in the programme how the Aragonese education system works, provided guidance on administrative procedures and offered teaching guidelines aimed at helping them carry out their duties. The meeting also shared resources to help them learn about Aragon’s cultural heritage and improve their command of Spanish during their stay.
MORE THAN 100 ASSISTANTS FROM 13 NATIONALITIES
For the current academic year, Aragon is welcoming a total of 104 language assistants—one more than in the previous edition—from 13 different nationalities. This team will bring cultural and linguistic diversity to 106 schools, including 71 in Zaragoza, 21 in Huesca and 14 in Teruel. Of these assistants, 84 teach English, 19 French and one German.
The programme will run until May 31, 2027. The start date, set this year one month later than in previous calls, was established by Spain’s Ministry of Education after the programme was suspended between February and May, leading to the publication of the official call being moved from February to June 2026. Nevertheless, cooperation from the autonomous communities has enabled the initiative to continue in Aragon under conditions similar to those of previous academic years.
The presence of language assistants helps strengthen students’ language skills in English, French and German, while promoting a natural understanding of the cultural and social realities of their countries of origin and increasing students’ motivation to learn foreign languages.
