Real Zaragoza–Huesca to Stop in Ninth Minute in Memory of Jesús de Miguel

The Royal Spanish Football Federation, which oversees the competitions involving both Real Zaragoza and S.D. Huesca, will honor Jesús de Miguel, the striker who died on Tuesday. The two Aragonese teams face each other this weekend, and the initiative backed by the federation will see play stopped in the ninth minute, the shirt number worn by the striker at Tenerife. There will also be a minute of silence before kick-off.
Real Zaragoza–Huesca to Stop in Ninth Minute in Memory of Jesús de Miguel

The RFEF, along with LaLiga and Liga F, has agreed with clubs and players on a series of actions. These will naturally also take place during the match between Real Zaragoza and S.D. Huesca. In this way, all of Spanish football will remember the striker, who died after a brutal collision on the field, under the slogan “Always in our memory.”

The starting players from both teams will walk onto the field together, wearing special shirts bearing the number 9 and the aforementioned slogan. Alongside the referees, they will form a semicircle, embracing around the spot on the field where Monday’s incident occurred, and lay a floral tribute in his memory.

A minute of silence will then be observed, during which the video screens and stadium displays will show an image of Jesús de Miguel, followed by applause from the players and supporters.

THE MATCH WILL BE STOPPED

The tribute will continue once the match is underway. At the first stoppage after the ninth minute, in reference to his shirt number, the referee will stop the game and the video screens will show a tribute video for the player. After the players applaud from their positions, play will resume.

This will apply to the match between Real Zaragoza and S.D. Huesca. The players may pray for the deceased footballer and join in the tribute to the late striker.
