The regional government leader described her as "an extraordinary person, a great colleague and an exemplary politician," highlighting her commitment to Spain, which "will always be a benchmark for all of us." "All my affection goes to her family and loved ones. Today, the entire People's Party family mourns her loss. Rest in peace, colleague," he concluded in his post.
CEOE ARAGON EXTENDS ITS CONDOLENCES
CEOE Aragon has also extended its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the president of the CEOE Foundation, expressing its sorrow to the loved ones of all the victims and its support for those affected by the tragedy.
CEOE Aragon maintained a close working relationship with Fátima Báñez and the CEOE Foundation for years. That joint work led to projects and meetings in Aragon related to training, employment, inclusion, professional development, entrepreneurship and cybersecurity.
In 2021, during her first year at the helm of the CEOE Foundation, the former minister took part in an event on competitiveness and employment organized by the Aragonese confederation and held a working lunch with its Business Council. She also participated in activities in 2022, 2023 and 2025 alongside Fundación “la Caixa,” CaixaBank Dualiza and INCIBE.
These initiatives were aimed, respectively, at promoting social and labor inclusion, analyzing changes in professional profiles and the future vocational training needs of Aragonese companies, and strengthening the digital protection and skills of businesses, particularly SMEs and the self-employed.
The relationship remained active until recently. Last February, Báñez returned to Zaragoza with the educational project "Olegario, the Entrepreneurial Goblin," promoted by the CEOE Foundation and Fundación Diálogos to introduce schoolchildren to entrepreneurship and the value of companies and business owners. During that visit, she also held a meeting at CEOE Aragon and took part in a business lunch.
BENITO TESIER HIGHLIGHTS HER WARMTH AND GENEROSITY
CEOE Aragon President Benito Tesier highlighted the personal bond he built with Báñez and recalled her willingness to collaborate and listen. "Fátima was an extraordinarily warm, generous person who was easy to love. She was always willing to collaborate, listen and contribute," he said.
Tesier stressed that they shared the conviction that employment and training are essential tools for creating opportunities and improving society. "Her loss has left us deeply devastated and also leaves us with an enormous personal and professional memory," he added.
The president of the Aragonese employers' association also highlighted "her enormous commitment to companies and the people who make them possible, her ability to engage in dialogue and her constant willingness to promote projects that would create opportunities."
