The national team coach has always presented himself as a devoted believer in the Christian faith, and a ribbon of Our Lady of the Pillar is never missing from his right wrist. "It is an enormous emotion. You know about my devotion to Our Lady of the Pillar, and I have been very happy and proud to be here with all of you. I am grateful for the invitation and the opportunity you have given me to stand before the Virgin," he said during his visit to Zaragoza.
"It is a historic city and, in footballing terms, fantastic. It would be a wonderful venue to come here and play with our national team. It was incredible to see this square packed with people experiencing and sharing the same emotion, the same pride in being Spanish and defending a shirt that represents us all," he concluded in his speech.
