Gabriel Olaseni and the Príncipe Felipe Factor: "We Have to Protect Our Home Wins"

After their latest defeat in Barcelona and while awaiting assessments of Caleb Homesley and Trae Bell-Haynes' fitness, Casademont Zaragoza is preparing for its next ACB challenge against Girona at the Príncipe Felipe on Saturday at 6 p.m. On Tuesday, red-clad center Gabriel Olaseni spoke for the Aragonese locker room and highlighted the importance of the next two games at home: "We have to protect our home wins."

"I think so far we have done a good job playing aggressively, playing for the fans and having the fans positively affect the game. Two home games are definitely a great opportunity to build consistency in the way we play," explained the British center of a Casademont side that will host Girona and Unicaja over the next two rounds, with the aim of continuing to add victories to its record.

In this way, the Aragonese team is hurting after suffering its first away defeat in a game it fought "until the end" in Barcelona. "Whenever you lose as a competitor, you are not very happy, but the coaches are doing a good job of keeping us focused on what we can control. That game is in the past, and we have to use those feelings of frustration and that energy to channel them in the right direction and get a home win," Olaseni explained.

With a 3-2 record, Casademont faces a crucial game this Saturday as it looks to establish itself as one of the candidates to play in the Copa del Rey. "Every game is important, but this is a great opportunity. We love playing under this coach, we understand what we have to do and we have a good game plan that we just need to go out and execute," the English center said about the upcoming clash with Girona.

HIS EXCELLENT FORM

On an individual level, Olaseni has made an excellent start to the season, even becoming Casademont's top scorer in the latest game at the Palau Blaugrana. "From an individual point of view, I think I can play better, and I am sure I will because it is a long season," said an ambitious Casademont center who currently shares the position with Laurynas Birutis and will do so with Jilson Bango when the Angolan recovers from his injury.

"I am happier with the team. Before this season, if someone had told us that we would be in the position we are now after five games, we would have taken it. Obviously, we would have liked to win the two games we lost, but we cannot take that back. So I think it is just about the team's mentality: staying positive and understanding the mistakes we made and the things we did well," Olaseni said of a Casademont side with two golden opportunities ahead to move to an impressive 5-2 record.
