A Convincing Advance Built on Spectacular Goals

A simple, emphatic and entertaining victory for S.D. Huesca, fueled by goals against Peña Sport of Segunda RFEF, the fourth tier. The Huesca side beat the Navarrese team 1-5 in Tafalla, where the match was played, to advance past the Copa del Rey first round. The game also gave the less frequently used players a chance to make their case.
A Convincing Advance Built on Spectacular Goals

Huesca unlocked the game early after a few warnings from the home side, with Marc Aznar opening the scoring after beating three players in the box. Collado did something similar just before the half-hour mark, but from the flank, to widen the gap. A move between him and Mario García ended with the third goal, and Luismi rounded things off with a shot from the halfway line. Gorostidi completed the scoring with the fifth.

It was exactly what S.D. Huesca needed in the Copa del Rey: to get the job done and give the players who usually play less a chance to shine. There were no unpleasant surprises, as has happened at other stadiums. Now the team must turn its attention back to the league.

THE MATCH

S.D. Huesca opted for its less frequently used players and sought to give them a chance to make their case in the Copa del Rey. However, the start was not what had been expected. In fact, Huesca began to struggle in the opening minutes against Peña Sport, a Segunda RFEF side battling to avoid relegation. Things threatened to go awry.

The crosses began to come one after another, and Peña Sport even appealed for a penalty shortly after the quarter-hour mark. The home side also got a shot away in the box, increasing the concern for a Huesca team making too many mistakes. It had not got going.

It was Marc Aznar who unlocked the game. In the 21st minute, he entered the box between two opponents, dribbled past another and sent the ball across goal into the far corner to make it 0-1. A spectacular goal. Huesca had begun to play somewhat better, and the result soon became clear.

S.D. Huesca quickly extended its lead through Diego Collado in the 30th minute. Another spectacular goal to put the game on track. The forward entered the box from the left, beat two opponents and unleashed a fierce shot to make it 0-2. That was the score at halftime.

SECOND HALF

The goal festival continued for S.D. Huesca. A superb move by Diego Collado ended with a one-two combination with Mario García. It was Mario who, in the 55th minute, tapped the ball home to cap a fine move between the two players. The score rose to 0-3 at the Tafalla stadium.

The home side managed to score a consolation goal. After making several changes, Huesca switched off, allowing Peña Sport to score in the 65th minute. Djetei made a mistake in clearing the ball, Marc Aznar was weak in the challenge and Recalde was sharper than the defense to finish and make it 1-3.

Luismi rounded off the result with the goal of the night. The midfielder won the ball in the center of the field and decided to shoot from there. He saw the goalkeeper off his line in the 67th minute, struck the ball and watched it fly cleanly into the back of the net.

Gorostidi completed the scoring. Douglas went for a ball and recovered it before laying it back, allowing the midfielder to make it 1-5. The game ended there. It was a useful, straightforward and emphatic outing. Huesca must now turn its attention to league competition.
