The new-look Casademont Zaragoza inspires optimism from within: “We have a very good locker room”

It is evident on the court and inside the locker room. This year’s promising Casademont Zaragoza, revamped with numerous changes last summer, is a completely different team from previous seasons, with an entirely new and hopeful atmosphere. It is a notable step forward that, as Miguel González, one of the few veterans on the red-and-black squad, has explained, can also be felt within the Zaragoza club: “We have a very good locker room, and that ultimately makes everyday life easier.”

"The work the coaches are doing makes it much easier for all of us to give 100 percent in training, with the desire to improve and give everything. Despite having lost a game, we have the right mindset to move forward. We know our potential and believe in the work the staff is conveying to us: that is the key to creating a good atmosphere and enabling us to try to win every game," said the Valladolid forward, who is in his fourth consecutive season in Zaragoza.

In this way, the red-and-black locker room is "disappointed" after its latest defeat in Barcelona, where there were areas to improve. "We know we made mistakes that cannot happen again. I think the start of the third quarter had a major impact on the rest of the game, so we know that in many situations we depend on ourselves to compete until the end," explained Miguel González, referring to "avoidable" mistakes that must be learned from so they "do not happen again in other games."

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE NEXT GAMES

With a 3-2 record keeping it in contention for a place among the top eight teams in the standings, Casademont faces two consecutive games at Príncipe Felipe over the next two rounds. Girona and Unicaja will visit the Zaragoza arena in two matchups that could be crucial to the red-and-black team’s ambitions.

"At home, it is essential to win as many games as possible. If we win these two, we would have a 5-2 record, which would make us look up the standings and give us a chance to take a closer look at the Cup. So these two games are crucial against two opponents who are in good form, but if we do things well, we can beat them," the Valladolid player emphasized.

The goal of playing in the Cup, as could not be otherwise, motivates this new Casademont team. "Ultimately, I think playing in a Cup is something that is not within everyone’s reach, and based on the experiences some of our teammates have had, they tell us that it is a very important and special tournament," Miguel González said of an objective that depends on the next two games, in which the Aragonese team wants to turn Príncipe Felipe into a fortress.
