Under the motto "Tornar ta Bielsa", the event aims to bring together in the heart of the Pyrenees those who speak, study, research, teach or write in Aragonese, as well as anyone who simply feels an interest in and appreciation for a language that forms a fundamental part of Aragón’s cultural and intangible heritage.
The choice of Bielsa and Sobrarbe as the setting also aims to bring the debate on Aragonese closer to the territories where the language has historically maintained a living presence, highlighting its different varieties and the voices of those who help preserve and pass them on.
THREE DAYS TO LEARN, LISTEN AND SHARE
The program will begin on Friday, October 16, at 18:00, with a screening at the Casa de la Villa Hall in Bielsa of Maxi Campo’s feature film, "21.000 palabras (un capezuto e dos collons)". The director himself and Ángel Luis Saludas will attend the screening, which will be moderated by Chabi Lozano.
The main day will take place on Saturday, October 17. After participants are welcomed, the Chornatas will be presented by Andrés Lascorz, president of the Sobrarbe Studies Center, and Juan Pablo Martínez, director of the Instituto de l’Aragonés of the Aragonese Academy of Language. Music will also play a prominent role in the event, with a concert by Ensamble in Aragonese scheduled for 19:00.
The program will conclude on Sunday, October 18, with a cultural visit, further strengthening the connection between language, territory, heritage and community.
A LANGUAGE WITH A PRESENT AND A FUTURE
The initiative is based on a simple idea: a language remains alive when it is spoken, heard, shared, passed on and valued. For this reason, "Tornar ta Bielsa" aims to look to the past and recognize the work of generations that have preserved Aragonese, but above all to open a conversation about its present and its possibilities for the future.
The event therefore combines film, presentations, talks, local experiences, literature, music, heritage and community, seeking to bring Aragonese closer both to those who already work regularly with the language and to anyone interested in learning more about it.
