The guided tour will offer the chance to discover the Bank of Spain building in Zaragoza and learn about how the institution’s branches have evolved throughout history. The tour will also explain the role they currently play and the services they offer to citizens, all in an environment of special heritage value.
The origins of the Bank of Spain’s branches date back to the Decree-Law of March 19, 1874, which established that the institution had to create branches in the country’s most important cities to meet the needs of commerce and facilitate the circulation of banknotes. Since then, the Zaragoza offices have undergone significant changes in both their functions and structure.
One of the aspects addressed during the tour will be the role played by the branches in the Bank of Spain’s early years. These offices were crucial in ensuring that banknotes were accepted as a means of payment and helped expand their use among the population.
DATE, TIMES AND HOW TO RESERVE A SPOT
The visit to the Bank of Spain in Zaragoza will be available during all four days of Open House Zaragoza. On Thursday, September 24, there will be two sessions, at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., while the same times will be offered on Friday, September 25. On Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, visits will take place in the morning, with sessions at 10:00 a.m. and noon. Each tour will last approximately 45 minutes and will have a maximum capacity of 15 people per session.
The activity will be completely free. Visitors will simply need to complete a registration form available on the Open House Zaragoza website. The form will require you to indicate the date on which you wish to take the tour. All visitors must report to the entrance hall of the Bank of Spain and identify themselves by providing their first name, surname and DNI.
