The 112 emergency service received the alert at around 5:20 p.m. on Friday, August 28. A Civil Guard public safety patrol from the Santa Eulalia del Campo station and GREIM specialists from Mora de Rubielos were dispatched to the scene. After assessing both the paraglider's injuries and the area's inaccessibility, they requested the intervention of the Civil Guard's Helicopter Unit based in Huesca.
The specialists carried out the air extraction at around 7:45 p.m. The injured man was subsequently transferred to the 112 medical helicopter, which urgently flew him to Miguel Servet Hospital in Zaragoza due to the seriousness of his condition.
A FATHER AND HIS SON TRAPPED ON A STEEP HILLSIDE
Just one day later, GREIM had to intervene again in Teruel province. This time, it was in the Bellena ravine, in Camarena de la Sierra, where a 45-year-old father and his 16-year-old son had become stranded on a steep hillside and could not continue on their own.
The alert was received at around 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, August 29. GREIM specialists from Mora de Rubielos traveled to the area around Javalambre Peak and decided to access the ravine from above. They reached the two hikers at around 7:15 p.m. and found that both were in good health.
To get them out of the gorge, the officers used a short-rope belay technique and climbed the hillside with them along the same route they had used to gain access. A Civil Guard patrol from the Sarrión station provided support from the ground.
The operation ended at 8:15 p.m., when the father, his son and the specialists reached the area where the vehicles were parked without injury.
