The alert was received at around 11:15 a.m. through 112, and the Civil Guard activated the Huesca GREIM mountain rescue unit and the Huesca Air Unit to locate and rescue the injured man. Once he was located, rescue personnel evacuated him and subsequently took him to the hospital in Huesca. The operation took place in a mountainous area of Las Peñas de Riglos.
TWO OCTOGENARIAN HIKERS INJURED AFTER A FALL IN TORLA
The day also saw two other rescues at different locations in the Pyrenees of Huesca. At 3:00 p.m., the Boltaña GREIM unit assisted two hikers aged 86 and 84, both from Germany, who had suffered a same-level fall on the Puente la Glera track in Torla. One of them had a bleeding wound on his right hand, and both were evacuated to Torla and taken to the Ordesa campsite, from where they continued on their own.
One hour later, at 4:00 p.m., the Civil Guard received another alert about a 21-year-old hiker from Ciudad Real who had fallen while taking part in an activity in the Izás Canal in Canfranc. The Jaca GREIM unit and the Huesca Air Unit took part in rescuing the woman, who appeared to have a sprained ankle. She was evacuated to the Jaca helipad and subsequently taken to Jaca Hospital.
