This incident occurred on Friday afternoon at a premises on Travesía del Barrio del Carmen in the city of Teruel. The two people were carrying out carpentry work using a generator, which may have released carbon monoxide, leaving them both unconscious.
The Civil Guard officer, who was off duty, responded to an alert from residents after the two people were found unconscious; one of them eventually died. The officer and other residents were also treated by medical staff for possible carbon monoxide inhalation while assisting the workers, although none required hospitalisation.
