Officers from the Drug Enforcement Group located him in the province of Zaragoza just six days after the request came into force.
The investigation began after the Drug Enforcement Group of the Aragón Superior Police Headquarters learned that the wanted man could be somewhere in the province of Zaragoza. The international warrant had come into force on September 1.
The inquiries enabled officers to track him down just six days later. Finally, at around 10:30 a.m. this Monday, September 7, investigators located the man on Calle Mayor in Daroca, where they proceeded to arrest him.
After confirming that the international request remained in force, the National Police notified the Fourth Section of the Criminal Chamber of Spain's National Court, the judicial body handling the request in Spain.
The detainee was subsequently placed at the disposal of the Daroca Court of First Instance, which ordered the necessary steps for his subsequent transfer to Madrid and the continuation of the corresponding extradition proceedings to Colombia.
