According to La Almunia Mayor Ángel Noé Latorre in statements to ARAGÓN DIGITAL, an alert was received after the man collapsed while taking a walk through the park. Local Police officers arrived immediately and were the first to assist the victim, beginning resuscitation efforts.
Shortly afterward, emergency medical services arrived and continued attempts to resuscitate him. An automated external defibrillator (AED) belonging to the Local Police was also used during the intervention, although ultimately nothing could be done to save the man's life. It has been confirmed that the death occurred from natural causes.
A RESIDENT "VERY MUCH LOVED IN LA ALMUNIA"
The victim was an 82-year-old single man who lived near Ramón y Cajal Park. Latorre described him as a resident "known and very much loved in La Almunia." Although he had lived in Zaragoza all his life, he settled in the Valdejalón municipality practically from the time he retired.
The mayor explained that the deceased's family ties to the town dated back much further. His family "has always come from La Almunia and has always had ties to the town," the mayor said.
The incident coincided with a rally held in support of Ceuta in Plaza de España, where several dozen residents had gathered. Latorre specified that the event "took place without incident and in complete normality" and that the manifesto of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) was read during it.
