According to information obtained by ARAGÓN DIGITAL, the operation began when police officers observed a possible criminal offense involving one of the people using this municipal service. When they attempted to identify him, the young man resisted the police intervention and the situation began to escalate.
The situation became serious enough that a second patrol had to be sent to support the officers at the shelter and prevent the incident from developing into a larger altercation. R. D. L., 26, was eventually arrested and later brought before a judge.
MORE THAN 100 USERS ACROSS THE DIFFERENT SERVICES
The incident took place at a facility that currently serves well over 100 users when all the services operated by the Municipal Shelter are taken into account, according to municipal sources. These include individual and family units, as well as the service known as "Casa Abierta".
The latter is aimed at people facing greater difficulties and prolonged homelessness. It has separate spaces for men and women and operates as a lower-threshold service, with more flexible access and length-of-stay conditions than other facilities.
Since this year, the shelter has operated under new regulations that replaced those in force since 1994 and, among other measures, established specific protocols on security and police coordination. The rules include preventive measures to ensure coexistence and safety for both users and center employees.
