Before the plenary session, the Chamber representatives had the opportunity to learn firsthand about Litera Meat's history, business model and key figures, as well as tour its facilities accompanied by professionals from the company's Quality team.
One of the highlights of the visit was Litera Meat's human dimension. The company currently employs 1,995 professionals from 52 different nationalities. This cultural diversity is one of the company's distinguishing features and reflects its ability to attract talent from different parts of the world.
Among recent trends, the growing number of employees from China stands out. They account for approximately 12% of the workforce. To facilitate their integration, Litera Meat has developed a welcome program that includes support in accessing housing and Spanish courses, helping them adapt both to the workplace and to everyday life in the area.
A STRATEGIC LOCATION WITH AN INTERNATIONAL OUTLOOK
The visit also provided an opportunity to explain one of the strategic decisions behind the project: the choice of Binéfar as the location for its facilities.
Located in the province of Huesca, a leader in pork production, Litera Meat was established with a clear commitment to being close to livestock production areas. Within a radius of just 20 kilometers of its facilities, around three million pigs are concentrated; within 50 kilometers, the figure reaches eight million, and within 75 kilometers it approaches 20 million.
A moment from the visit to Litera Meat's facilities
This concentration of production means that more than 80% of Litera Meat's pork suppliers are located within a 50-kilometer radius, strengthening a model based on proximity to the source and ties to the surrounding livestock sector.
Another central focus of the meeting was Litera Meat's international outlook. The quality of its products and its ability to meet the demanding requirements of international markets have enabled the company to consolidate its presence in more than 60 countries worldwide.
Currently, 15% of its commercial activity is aimed at the domestic market, 45% at European Union countries and 40% at non-EU countries. These figures reflect the importance of exports to its business model.
This track record was recently recognized by Aragón Exterior with the Internationalization Award in the Large Company Export category. The award highlights Litera Meat's ability to compete in global markets from a rural setting such as Binéfar.
A MEETING THAT STRENGTHENS TIES BETWEEN THE COMPANY AND THE AREA
The institutional visit by the Huesca Chamber of Commerce provided an opportunity to share Litera Meat's reality and highlight the role that major agri-food projects play in the economic and social development of the province.
For Litera Meat, welcoming the Chamber representatives made it possible to show how a project born from the area's opportunities can create jobs, promote training and achieve a significant international presence without losing its ties to the surrounding community.
