MAZ champions a holistic approach to health to build stronger companies

Today, workplace health requires an approach that goes beyond preventing traditional risks. Mental health, habits, addictions, support for conditions such as cancer and the working environment itself are all part of an increasingly holistic understanding of well-being in organizations.

This approach is at the heart of the second edition of the Technical Conference “360º Preventive Culture: Healthy people, strong companies,” organized by Mutua MAZ at Hospital MAZ Zaragoza. The conference has brought together 120 attendees in person and 250 people registered for the online session, including specialists, business leaders and institutional and social representatives, who are taking part between Wednesday and Thursday in a meeting to share knowledge, experiences and tools in response to new workplace health challenges.

“The reality facing companies and people is changing and, with it, prevention policies must also evolve. Through this conference, we want to broaden the focus, provide organizations with knowledge and tools on issues that are already affecting the health of their teams, and promote a preventive culture that takes an integral view of the individual,” Mutua MAZ explains.

The sessions are being held at Hospital MAZ Zaragoza

“Our goal is to move from prevention focused on avoiding risks toward a holistic understanding of people’s health and well-being,” they emphasize.

MENTAL HEALTH, HABITS AND NEW DIMENSIONS OF PREVENTION

The first day highlighted the diversity of factors that influence workers’ health. The program began with the prevention and management of alcohol and drug use in the workplace and also addressed digestive health and its relationship with cortisol and inflammation.

Physical and emotional well-being featured in sessions on exercise and core strengthening, as well as breathing and personal autonomy, focusing on practices linked to self-care and people’s well-being. Psychosocial risks and mental health were the focus of another presentation led by the Aragon Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (ISSLA).

The first day also incorporated the institutional and social partners’ perspectives through a roundtable on the healthy company model, with representatives from ISSLA, CEOE, CEPYME Aragón, UGT Aragón and CCOO Aragón. The discussion addressed the challenge of integrating health and well-being into organizational culture.

THE 360º APPROACH CONTINUES THIS THURSDAY

The conference will continue this Thursday, broadening the focus on workplace health to include support for people with cancer and bruxism, as well as the effects of screens and indoor lighting on health and productivity.

The program will also include real-world healthy company experiences, with practical examples of how to bring well-being and prevention into organizations. It will also address addictions, the (dis)connection from work and the importance of the pelvic floor, bringing visibility to aspects that have traditionally received less attention in prevention.

The second edition of 360º Preventive Culture is part of 2026, the Year of Safety and Health at Work, contributing to the promotion of a shared preventive culture inside and outside organizations.

Through this conference, Mutua MAZ is strengthening its commitment to sharing knowledge and best practices to advance toward healthier, safer and more sustainable workplaces.
