The celebration, with free admission, will take place this Sunday, November 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., although the festive atmosphere will begin earlier. At 10:00 a.m., Oliver’s giant figures and the marching band will set off from the Civic Center, making their way through the neighborhood streets before arriving at Oliver Park, where most of the activities will begin.
FREE ROASTED CHESTNUTS AT OLIVER PARK
One of the central moments will come at 11:00 a.m., when Oliver’s traditional chestnut vendors begin handing out free roasted chestnuts to attendees. Distribution will continue until 1:30 p.m. or while supplies last, once again making it one of the main attractions of this autumn festival in Zaragoza.
Another highlight of the program will take place at 12:30 p.m. at the Music Kiosk, where the Aragonese theater and children’s entertainment company PAI will perform its show "El Puntazo". The performance is designed for all audiences and will form part of a morning especially focused on family leisure and community participation.
Throughout the morning, visitors can also enjoy games, crafts, traditional tea and exhibitions by neighborhood groups. There will also be information tables on energy conservation, ethical finance and collaborative housing, as well as interviews included in the "Sound Memory of Human Rights" initiative, which will also be part of the program.
A FREE FESTIVAL FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY IN ZARAGOZA
The Autumn Festival – Chestnut Fair has become one of Oliver’s most established neighborhood events of the season. Organizers point out that its preparation involves dozens of groups, volunteers and local residents, who work together to stage a day intended to go beyond leisure and strengthen ties among those who live in this part of Zaragoza.
This year’s edition will be held under the slogan "For Our Rights", through which the organizing groups aim to highlight the role of the neighborhood community and collective work. The Oliver "Aragón" Residents’ Association sums up the spirit of the event as follows: "it is much more than the festival people see: while it is being organized, a neighborhood is being built".
The event is organized by the Oliver "Aragón" Residents’ Association and the Oliver Park Coordinating Association, together with various organizations and projects in the area. It is also supported by the Oliver Neighborhood Comprehensive Plan (PIBO), which contributes to a celebration that will once again occupy much of Sunday morning.
