As Zaragoza Mayor Natalia Chueca explained, "many businesses are major producers of paper and cardboard, more so than any individual household. In addition to balancing the use of the containers, this service makes things easier for shop owners, who only have to fold and tie the cardboard properly and place it outside their premises at the scheduled times."
This new service has been operating since last Friday on Compromiso de Caspe between Fray Luis Urbano and Doctor Iranzo; Doctor Iranzo, between Compromiso de Caspe and Florián Rey; Florián Rey; Salvador Minguijón, between Florián Rey and Compromiso de Caspe; Leopoldo Romeo, between Doctor Iranzo and Salvador Minguijón; Silvestre Pérez, between Doctor Iranzo and Salvador Minguijón; Nicanor Villa, between Doctor Iranzo and Salvador Minguijón; and Monasterio de Siresa, between Doctor Iranzo and Salvador Minguijón.
The new service is expected to benefit at least 60 businesses in the area, including markets, supermarkets, bazaars, greengrocers, shoe shops, leather goods and household goods stores, as well as some pharmacies. Although the businesses were visited several weeks ago by environmental agents from cleaning contractor FCC Medio Ambiente, who explained how the service works, information leaflets have been distributed so they can use it correctly.
This new area joins the six already in operation, covering streets and avenues throughout the city.
