Sos del Rey Católico, in the province of Zaragoza, is the Aragonese village with the highest proportion of foreign visitors within the network of Spain’s Most Beautiful Villages. This is reflected in the official ranking of Spain’s most international villages for 2026, compiled using data from Telefónica Tech. Five Aragonese municipalities appear among the top 30 out of a total of 126 locations: Sos del Rey Católico, Alquézar, Anento, Ansó and Aínsa.

SOS DEL REY CATÓLICO, THE TOWN WITH THE MOST FOREIGN TOURISTS

Sos del Rey Católico ranks 20th nationally, with foreign visitors accounting for 31.4% of the total. This municipality in the Cinco Villas region leads the Aragonese ranking and has established itself as one of the region’s rural destinations with the highest level of international tourism within the network.

The town in Zaragoza is known for its medieval old quarter, stone streets and connection to Ferdinand II of Aragon, known as Ferdinand the Catholic, who was born there in 1452. Its architectural heritage and medieval atmosphere make it one of the most recognizable tourist destinations in the province of Zaragoza.

ALQUÉZAR, THE HUESCA VILLAGE WHERE THE FRENCH ALSO TAKE CENTER STAGE

Alquézar ranks 22nd nationally, just two places behind Sos del Rey Católico. This town in Huesca, located in the Somontano de Barbastro region, stands out especially for the origin of its international visitors: 66.4% of its foreign tourists are French, according to the data collected in the study.

The municipality lies amid the Sierra de Guara and its canyons and is known for its historic quarter, medieval streets and collegiate church. It also boasts natural attractions, including the popular walkways along the Vero River, which offer a chance to discover the ravine landscape surrounding the town. This combination of heritage and nature makes Alquézar one of the most emblematic rural tourism destinations in Huesca.
