Throughout the day, students learned more about the various social, cultural and sporting activities organized by the University, language training options, cultural initiatives, and guidance and psychoeducational support services, as well as resources for students with specific needs. The initiative aims to support students beyond the classroom and promote a well-rounded university experience.
Among the new students are more than 100 from other universities. Specifically, 72 are Erasmus students, 20 come from non-EU countries and nine are taking part in the SICUE program.
These students, representing 23 nationalities, come from 52 universities in 22 different countries, including Germany, Austria, Belgium, Colombia, South Korea, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Mexico, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden, Taiwan and Turkey.
A YEAR WITH MORE THAN 4,500 STUDENTS
The welcome event marks the start of the 2026-2027 academic year, during which San Jorge University will have more than 900 new undergraduate students, over 130 master's students, nearly 80 students pursuing a university-specific qualification and almost 200 beginning their studies at USJ Senior.
In total, the University has more than 4,500 students this academic year. The student body reflects the campus's growing international character and its ability to attract students from other Spanish regions. USJ currently has 463 international students, representing 12% of the student body and coming mainly from France, Italy, Romania, the Netherlands, China, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Mexico and the Republic of Korea.
They are joined by 419 Spanish students from outside Aragon, representing 14% of the national student body. Navarra, La Rioja and the Basque Country remain the main places of origin for these students, followed by Castile and León and Catalonia.
One of the academic year's main new developments will be the Innova building, the university campus's eighth. With an area of 1,600 square meters, it is located next to the Faculty of Health Sciences and will expand the spaces dedicated to advanced simulation and the use of immersive technologies across various degree programs.
The campus expansion will continue this academic year with the construction of a ninth building covering 2,600 square meters. It will be connected to the Student Building and the School of Architecture and Technology. Construction of the new space began at the end of 2025. It will house creative and digital fabrication workshops, smart technology facilities, learning laboratories, classrooms, offices and collaborative spaces to promote interdisciplinary work between students and professors.
NEW DEGREE PROGRAMS
Academically, the year's main new development is the launch of the degree in Translation and Applied Language Technologies, which responds to the transformation of the language sector driven by digitalization, artificial intelligence and the advanced use of linguistic data.
At postgraduate level, the new Master's Degree in Applied Artificial Intelligence is beginning its first edition with the aim of training professionals capable of designing, developing and implementing artificial intelligence-based solutions in different sectors. This new program builds on San Jorge University's commitment to artificial intelligence since 2023, when it launched the only AI degree in Aragon. With this addition, the University now offers nine master's degrees.
In addition, the first edition of the Executive Program in Artificial Intelligence: Strategy, ROI and Governance will begin. It is aimed at professionals from different fields who seek to understand the impact of this technology on decision-making and organizational transformation processes.
