Correos successfully concludes exhibition of two historic symbols in Zaragoza

The exhibition of the Correos mantle for the Virgin of the Pillar and the historic Correos Corps banner has ended to a warm public reception. Both pieces were removed on Friday, October 30, from the exhibition installed at Zaragoza’s Main Post Office, where they were on display throughout the second half of October as part of the commemorative program marking the building’s centenary, coinciding with the Fiestas del Pilar.

The exhibition brought the people of Zaragoza closer to part of Correos’ historical and sentimental heritage, reflecting the bond between generations of postal professionals, Zaragoza and the Virgin of the Pillar, patron saint of the Correos Corps. Its display provided an opportunity to share these symbols with employees, former workers and visitors, while highlighting the importance of preserving them. Following the exhibition’s closure, both pieces have returned to their respective places of safekeeping: the Correos banner to the Crystal Rosary and the mantle to the Basilica of the Pillar.

A NEW APPOINTMENT ON NOVEMBER 9

Next November 9, the Virgin of the Pillar will wear the Correos mantle in her Camarín at the Basilica of the Pillar. The mantle was presented more than 80 years ago, on November 18, 1945, to be precise. This occasion will hold special significance for the company’s current and former professionals, who will once again be able to see the piece on the Virgin during the centenary year of Zaragoza’s Main Post Office building.
