Leptospirosis is an infectious disease caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira, which can be transmitted to people through contact with water, soil or food contaminated with the urine of infected animals. Its incidence is low in Spain, although it can occur sporadically.

ONE CASE OF IMPORTED DENGUE IN ZARAGOZA

Alongside the case detected in Huesca, the bulletin reports a case of imported dengue in the province of Zaragoza. The imported designation means that the infection occurred outside Spain, generally in areas where the virus is regularly circulating.

A case of shigellosis has also been reported in Zaragoza, another of the diseases classified by Public Health as low-incidence conditions. This intestinal infection is caused by bacteria of the genus Shigella and can cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, fever or abdominal pain.
