The report states that crimes against moral integrity were added to the statistical table alongside those related to school bullying in 2024, meaning that comparisons of the figures are still “somewhat indicative but significant.”
The Public Prosecutor’s Office also recorded a 29.04% increase in crimes against moral integrity committed by minors, rising from 1,057 cases in 2024 to 1,364 last year. According to the document, the increase “indicates the shift in the profiles of juvenile offenders that has already been observed in recent years.”
The comparison of both figures, according to the report, “highlights a significant deficit in prevention and intervention in the educational environment” and is a source of “considerable concern” for the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
CYBERBULLYING
The Public Prosecutor’s Office also notes a “significant increase” in behavior carried out by minors through telematic means and the internet, with applications such as WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram and Telegram playing a particularly prominent role. The document states that a substantial proportion of school bullying cases are committed through cyberbullying and that this behavior has led to an increase in crimes against moral integrity.
The juvenile sections of the various prosecutor’s offices have expressed concern over the rise in cyberbullying and the negative influence that the misuse of information and communication technologies may have on minors.
