ONCE dedicates five million coupons to recognizing caregivers’ work

Five million coupons will carry a message of recognition across Spain this Wednesday for those who dedicate their daily lives to caring for others. ONCE is highlighting this work on International Caregivers Day, a date that has also prompted the organization to visit nursing homes in Aragón where older people with visual impairments live.

Raquel Pérez, ONCE delegate in Aragón, Pilar Calvo, director of the Huesca office, and Paula Suarez, director of the Teruel office, have met with managers and other representatives of nursing homes in Aragón where older people who are blind live. There, they explained and offered the Organization’s support services and expressed their gratitude for the daily work and care provided by their caregivers.

ONCE has a Residential Care Plan to make life easier for people with visual impairments who live in these and other types of centers. The importance ONCE attaches to this work is reflected in the fact that caregivers receive their main support from the Organization’s 100 social workers across Spain.

RECOGNIZING AND VALUING THEIR WORK

In addition, ONCE rehabilitation technicians teach blind older people how to move around the centers using a white cane, while also showing professionals practices that can improve their work. International Caregivers Day, celebrated on November 5, was established in 2014 by the United Nations General Assembly. Its goal is to recognize and value the work of those who dedicate their time and effort to caring for others.

The ONCE Daily Coupon offers a prize of 500,000 euros for the winning number and series, along with 49 prizes of 35,000 euros for the five digits of the winning number. It also offers 450 prizes of 250 euros for the first four digits and another 450 prizes for the last four; 9,000 prizes of 25 euros for the last three or first three digits; the same applies to the first and last two digits, with prizes of 6 euros, as well as a 2-euro refund for the first or last digit of the winning number.
