Teachers believe the regulation “does not respond to the demands teachers had been raising” and that, far from simplifying procedures, it creates “a greater bureaucratic burden for schools” while leaving significant responsibility with teachers and school management teams.
The school says that organizing an activity outside the school requires time, coordination and numerous administrative tasks that add to the regular workload. In its view, the new instructions “do not resolve this situation” and, in some respects, “make the procedure even more complex.”
The Teachers’ Council nevertheless insists that the decision does not question the educational value of these activities. On the contrary, it points out that they have been part of school life for years and have enabled students to take part in experiences “that can hardly be developed inside the classroom.” For this reason, it argues that they should be organized “under reasonable conditions and with clearly defined responsibilities.”
THEY CALL FOR MORE GUARANTEES FOR TEACHERS AND SCHOOL MANAGEMENT TEAMS
With this measure, teachers want to draw attention to the difficulties that, in their view, the new regulations may create for schools. They are calling for the current framework to be reviewed in order to “genuinely reduce bureaucracy, clarify responsibilities and provide sufficient guarantees” both for teachers who take part in the activities and for the school management teams responsible for authorizing them.
