Emulating the characteristic Hollywood-style walkway, the stretch of Paseo Isabel la Católica between Plaza Emperador Carlos V and Plaza San Francisco has featured a total of 65 stars bearing the names of some of Zaragoza's century-old companies since Friday. It is a public recognition initiative promoted by Zaragoza's Chamber of Commerce in acknowledgement of their contribution to the city's economic and social development.
“A hundred years of business activity mean many things: know-how, experience, quality of service, trust, adaptability and, above all, commitment. That is probably one of the great values we want to recognize today,” said Jorge Villarroya, president of the Zaragoza Chamber of Commerce, at an event held at the organization's headquarters attended by Mayor Natalia Chueca and Carmen Herrarte, director general of Commerce, Trade Fairs and Crafts for the Government of Aragon.
A few months ago, the Zaragoza Chamber of Commerce called on companies in the province with more than 100 years of history that wanted to take part in the event, and ultimately 65 chose to have their own star on the walkway's pavement.
AWARD CEREMONY
After the speeches, the 65 commemorative trophies were individually presented to the honored companies by Natalia Chueca, Jorge Villarroya and Carmen Herrarte. At the end, the companies were accompanied along Paseo Isabel la Católica to locate their respective vinyl stars, where representatives of the century-old firms were able to take photos in their own corner of Zaragoza's “Walk of Fame.”
