The Council of Ministers authorized on Tuesday the distribution of €107.4 million among Spain’s autonomous communities to develop training initiatives at public centers. Of that amount, €3.6 million will go to Aragon and may be allocated both to sectors identified under national programs and to those the region considers priorities within its own strategic plans.
The investment will also have a social component. The government has stipulated that 30% of the funds be allocated to people facing economic or social vulnerability, at risk of poverty or exclusion, as well as migrants who took part in the 2026 regularization process.
CONSTRUCTION AND TRADES AMONG THE PRIORITIES
In addition to the funds managed by Aragon, the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports will launch four national calls for applications endowed with a further €126.7 million. Their aim will be to strengthen worker training in areas where difficulties have been identified in finding professionals or ensuring the generational replacement of staff.
One of the schemes will have €25 million for training related to industrial and sustainable construction. The program aims to modernize the sector, improve the efficiency of its processes and help increase and speed up the supply of quality, affordable and sustainable housing.
Another €35 million will be specifically allocated to strategic trades and occupations. The call will cover ten vocational training fields with qualification and staffing needs, including Building and Civil Works, Installation and Maintenance, Electricity and Electronics, and Security and the Environment.
TRAINING FOR TOURISM AND RURAL AREAS
Tourism will be another priority area. A €20 million call will fund training linked to heritage, cultural and sustainable tourism, with particular attention to its capacity to generate economic activity and opportunities across the region.
The initiative also focuses on issues of particular relevance to Aragon, such as retaining population in rural areas, diversifying local economies and promoting the value of natural, cultural and ethnographic heritage. The government statement explicitly links this type of tourism to the economic and territorial development of rural areas.
The fourth national call will have €46.7 million and will be aimed primarily at people in particularly vulnerable situations, especially migrants. The funded activities will include training accredited through micro-credentials, vocational modules and professional certificates, allowing the knowledge acquired to accumulate within the vocational training system and improve people’s chances of accessing employment.
