This increase is part of the framework agreement signed on Wednesday in Zaragoza by the president of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, and the director general of Fundación ”la Caixa”, Josep Maria Coronas. The agreement sets out as priorities improving living conditions for the most vulnerable children, facilitating access to employment for disadvantaged groups, promoting active and healthy aging, and providing comprehensive care for people with advanced illnesses. It also includes initiatives aimed at people with disabilities or at risk of social exclusion.
Among the programs with the broadest reach is CaixaProinfancia, which supported 4,514 children and adolescents and 2,561 families in Aragon in 2025, with a budget of more than €5 million. Meanwhile, the Incorpora program helped create 1,184 jobs in the region last year through collaboration with 450 companies.
SOCIAL CARE AND ACTIVE AGING
The Comprehensive Care for People with Advanced Illnesses program reached 939 patients and 1,218 family members in 2025 through three teams in Aragon. In addition, 19,565 people took part in the 629 activities organized by the Older Adults program at 25 centers to promote active and healthy aging.
The Calls for Social Projects also supported 43 projects by Aragonese organizations last year, with an investment of €1.3 million. This was complemented by 83 grants promoted through CaixaBank’s branch network for social, cultural and educational initiatives, with a €470,000 contribution from the foundation.
CULTURE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING
The collaboration also includes promoting culture and science through CaixaForum Zaragoza, exhibitions and touring activities, support for the education community, and youth training. CaixaForum Zaragoza received 269,972 visitors in 2025, while two touring exhibitions attracted more than 62,000 people.
In education, EduCaixa reached 44,790 students and 1,125 teachers at 280 Aragonese schools last year. The foundation also awarded two undergraduate scholarships, four postgraduate scholarships abroad, one doctoral scholarship and two postdoctoral scholarships in Aragon.
Coronas highlighted that the foundation’s investment in Aragon has increased steadily and defended collaboration with the regional government and social organizations to address the territory’s specific needs. Azcón, for his part, said that the increase to €20 million would “improve the lives of many more people and expand the number of beneficiaries,” and welcomed the commitment to raise the contribution to €21 million in 2027.
