The agreement will continue the collaboration maintained by the three administrations since 2019. Under it, the Department of Education, Science and Universities provides the qualified teaching staff needed to deliver vocational training at military centers, while the Ministry of Defence covers the cost of this personnel. The previous agreement was due to expire on August 31, 2026.
Specifically, the new agreement provides for the participation of 76 full-time teachers during the 2026-2027 academic year. Of these, 72 will serve at the Logistics Academy (ACLOG) and four at the School of Security, Defence and Support Techniques (ETESDA). At the Logistics Academy, 64 teachers will work between September 2026 and August 2027, with a further eight joining between January and August 2027.
THE QUALIFICATIONS ON OFFER
The collaboration will allow the Logistics Academy to offer a total of 11 vocational training qualifications, at both higher and intermediate levels. They include Higher Technician qualifications in Networked Computer Systems Administration, Automotive Technology, Maintenance of Thermal and Fluid Installations, and Aeromechanical Maintenance of Turbine-Engine Helicopters.
Other qualifications include Electronic Maintenance, Industrial Mechatronics, and Maintenance of Electronic and Avionic Aircraft Systems, as well as Technician qualifications in Automotive Vehicle Electromechanics, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Installations, Road Transport Vehicle Driving, and Security.
At the School of Security, Defence and Support Techniques (ETESDA), the Technician qualification in Health Emergencies will be offered, with four full-time teachers provided by the Department of Education, Science and Universities.
THE QUALIFICATIONS WILL BE REVIEWED NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR
The agreement also establishes that, before the start of each academic year from 2027-2028 onward, the three administrations will determine which qualifications will be offered and the teaching staff required, setting the maximum amount to be transferred each year based on the courses and the number of teachers.
The new agreement will initially be in force for four years, effective from September 1, 2026, and may be extended by mutual agreement between the parties for up to four additional years.
