The program is promoted by the Aragon Institute of Health Sciences (IACS) and the Directorate-General for Public Health and has been taught in Aragon since 2003. More than 650 professionals have already taken part in its various editions, which follow a multidisciplinary approach aimed at strengthening knowledge of prevention, surveillance, assessment and responses to health risks.
The call is particularly significant at a time when Zaragoza is preparing to host the State Public Health Agency, as agreed by the Council of Ministers on July 28, 2026. The Government of Aragon links this training to the need for specialists capable of anticipating threats, interpreting population health problems and contributing to the design of prevention and control measures.
A 30-CREDIT DIPLOMA WITH A BLENDED FORMAT
The Diploma in Public Health offers 30 ECTS credits and is delivered in a blended format, although most of the activity takes place online. The course combines materials on an e-learning platform, live webinars, activities and several in-person sessions at the Aragon Biomedical Research Center (CIBA) in Zaragoza.
The program’s subjects include epidemiology, public health surveillance, health promotion and prevention, health protection, research and scientific communication. The 2027 edition also maintains the One Health approach, which connects human health, animal health and the environment to address problems requiring coordinated responses.
This approach makes it possible to work on challenges such as emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance and food safety. The aim is for students to acquire tools to analyze information, assess risks and understand how certain environmental, social or animal factors can ultimately affect population health.
65 PLACES AND PRE-REGISTRATION UNTIL SEPTEMBER 22
The call offers 65 places, 50 of which are reserved for staff working for the Government of Aragon, while 15 are allocated to other applicants. It is aimed at university graduates in healthcare professions, as well as other profiles related to public health who wish to focus or expand their professional activity in this field.
The course will begin on January 19, 2027, and run until November 10. The standard tuition fee is 1,500 euros and, according to the call published in August, Government of Aragon staff can access a discounted rate of 900 euros. To obtain the diploma, students must pass the modules and defend a final project before a panel.
Pre-registration remains open until September 22 and must be completed through the Aragon Institute of Health Sciences. The IACS website contains the full program, admission requirements and application form. The National School of Public Health coordinates the course and sets the requirements for its delivery.
