The Department of Environment and Tourism is thus recognizing Farcaza’s evolution toward a model of hunting that incorporates habitat protection, wildlife population monitoring and scientific innovation. This activity contributes to ecosystem balance and the proper management of game species. The award is part of the Aragon Government’s commitment to highlighting hunting as a necessary tool for managing the natural environment, as already stated in the government pact.
“Farcaza embodies the evolution of hunting toward a responsible practice that protects habitats, monitors species and applies scientific innovation. Its work demonstrates that management is a conservation tool and a commitment to the ecological balance of the natural environment,” the Department of Environment and Tourism of the Aragon Government affirms.
THREE OTHER AWARDS IN ARAGON
The Governing Council has also finalized the other three awards included in the program. The Ramón y Cajal Primary School in Pina de Ebro will receive the award for contributing to the rural environment for its project, ‘Nature-Classroom-Ecosystem. The Cycle That Transforms,’ which integrates education, citizen science and care for the surrounding environment.
The Zaragoza South District Environmental Association will receive the award for contributing to the urban environment for its project, ‘Neighborhood Renaturalization of the South District,’ which promotes the recovery of degraded spaces through citizen participation and volunteering.
Meanwhile, Heraldo de Aragón journalist Rubén Darío Núñez will receive the award for contributing to environmental knowledge and outreach for his work over 205 days giving a voice to the deterioration of the Ibones de Anayet, helping to raise awareness about the protection of this area.
2026 ARAGON ENVIRONMENT AWARD
The Aragon Environment Award aims to publicly recognize initiatives and careers that contribute to protecting and improving Aragon’s environment. The four winning entries were unanimously proposed by the award jury after it reviewed the applications submitted for the 2026 call.
