The program will feature 18 lectures between November 2026 and April 2027, covering scientific, social, economic, historical and cultural topics. The initiative is organized by the University of Zaragoza’s Office of the Vice-Rector for Culture and Heritage in collaboration with the Association of Emeritus Professors (Apeuz).
The first session will be led by Vicente Salas Fumás, emeritus professor of business organization, who will give a lecture titled Democracy at Work. The event will take place on Tuesday, November 3, at 7:00 p.m. in the Paraninfo’s Aula Magna and will address worker participation in organizations and decision-making.
FROM ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO FRANKENSTEIN
Over the coming months, the public will be able to explore issues such as the impact of artificial intelligence on human intelligence, ultra-processed and genetically modified foods, economic activity in rural areas, mental health and the role of renewable energy.
The program will also include topics related to history, literature, genetics, religion and heritage. Planned sessions include a dialogue between science and literature through Frankenstein, the genetic importance of the maternal surname, and the role of science and technology in today’s society.
The sessions will be led by professors recognized as emeriti after completing their regular academic careers and who remain involved in research and teaching. The series aims to draw on their experience and careers to bring university knowledge closer to society.
