Morón said that “Ceuta has been invaded in a new attack in the hybrid war that Morocco has been waging against Spain and that VOX has been denouncing for many years.” He also identified “the Moroccan regime and the corrupt and traitorous government of Pedro Sánchez, which did nothing to prevent the invasion,” as those responsible.
VOX DEFENDS THE SOVEREIGNTY OF CEUTA AND MELILLA
The party leader regretted that “the people of Ceuta feel abandoned and betrayed,” and therefore assured them that “we are going to support them in every square in every town in Spain.” For Morón, “national sovereignty is non-negotiable,” and he stressed that “Ceuta and Melilla are an inseparable part of Spain.”
“The statements made by the Moroccan government on August 21 and 25, directly questioning Spanish sovereignty, are inadmissible and incompatible with a relationship based on friendship and goodwill. We will not accept a state that presents itself as a friend invading us and claiming part of our historic territory with the permissiveness of a traitorous government,” he argued.
Along these lines, Morón said that Vox will put forward an initiative at this month’s next plenary session to “reaffirm full Spanish sovereignty over Ceuta and reject Morocco’s claim to it.” He also urged the Spanish government “to formally demand that the Kingdom of Morocco issue a public and explicit declaration respecting Spain’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
