Vaquero sent this message after the regional cabinet meeting amid a dispute between the two major parties, which hold completely opposing positions. While all municipalities governed by the People’s Party are supporting the call by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, the general position among the Socialists is not to attend, criticizing what they describe as the right’s partisan use of the issue.
All members of the Aragon regional government are also supporting the call by Aragon’s municipalities, the deputy president said. She expressed the executive’s hope that public support would be “unanimous,” in keeping with “the Aragonese spirit of solidarity and of defending our borders and our rights.”
Vaquero denounced a situation that “is disrupting the daily lives of Ceuta’s residents and that, just as they have probably been unable to enjoy a peaceful summer,” they may not have a normal start to the school year or be able to resume their economic activity.
