Teruel PSOE to launch campaign highlighting Pedro Sánchez government achievements against opposition “scaremongering”

The Teruel PSOE will launch an electoral campaign highlighting the achievements of Pedro Sánchez’s progressive government against the “scaremongering speeches” of the PP-Vox coalition. It will also be a campaign “led by activists in favor of coexistence” to “dispel the politics of fear” that, they claim, are being used to invent a reality “that does not exist.” Teruel PSOE Secretary-General Rafael Guía has urged the electoral committee to present “without complexes” the many figures “that show Spain in 2026 is better than it was in 2018” in response to those who say otherwise.

“They are constantly angry because expanding rights for the majority also means taking privileges away from those they defend—the most powerful, both in Spain and abroad, who are their masters and who are also working tirelessly on various fronts to sink any progressive project,” Guía argued, stating that in the PSOE “we are accountable only to the majority of people.”

Guía also defended Pedro Sánchez’s government housing policies in recent years, “despite the obstacles put up by the PP and Vox from Congress or through the management of the autonomous communities.” He highlighted the recent approval of 201 million euros to build 2,500 homes for affordable rent, as well as the approval of a Housing Law “that proves effective where it is applied.” Citing this example, the Teruel PSOE secretary-general called for “using data to dismantle each and every one of the hoaxes that fuel PP and Vox campaigns.” He said it has thus become common to invent “scenarios that do not exist,” referring specifically to the supposed collapse of the pension system.

A CAMPAIGN FOR COEXISTENCE

The Teruel PSOE wants a campaign that promotes and values “coexistence and empathy” in contrast to “the hate speech” championed by Vox and increasingly embraced by a PP “that is crossing every red line without any problem.”

For Guía, it is also absolutely necessary to reject “generalized targeting of immigrants or those who are different” through accusations that border on “hate crime” and are “completely unfounded.” He therefore lamented that, at the most recent plenary session of the Aragonese Parliament, the PP joined Vox in approving a non-legislative proposal that directly blamed migrants “for the collapse of public services.”

Before the start of the electoral campaign, socialists in Teruel have organized an intensive program of meetings, workshops and open sessions with various organizations and associations in order, on the one hand, to assess the current situation and, on the other, to evaluate decisions taken regarding legislation, both by the Spanish Government and by the autonomous community.
