The People’s Party’s deputy secretary for Education and Equality said that these centers “work in every direction” to protect women who are victims of gender-based violence. On the one hand, they provide the necessary psychological and legal support “to help ensure that their lives are once again filled with happiness, for themselves and their children.” On the other hand, the resource trains professionals so that they are “completely immersed in everything represented by the fight against gender-based violence.”
This center, together with those in Huesca and Teruel, handled 666 cases in 2025. Mar Vaquero considers this a “good” figure because more and more people are learning about and turning to the resource, but she acknowledged that she would like the number to be lower because “we are becoming increasingly effective at fighting this scourge.”
The vice president praised the center’s multisectoral approach to both care and training. In this regard, she highlighted its library, which contains 5,000 specialized documents and books, its 24-hour telephone service, and its twelve accommodation units for housing women and their children in the most serious and extreme cases.
FIGHT AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE
“The government of this wonderful land and, of course, President Azcón, have devoted all their energy since taking office to protecting women, especially those who suffer the most and who are victims of any kind of gender-based violence,” Jaime de los Santos stressed.
He also said that “equality is neither right-wing nor left-wing,” but rather “something that should concern every decent citizen.” He called for a commitment to ensuring “that not a single woman suffers what gender-based violence entails and that not a single woman continues to be prostituted in this country.”
Mar Vaquero expressed herself in a similar vein, defending the regional government’s commitment to this issue based on “genuine feminism,” in contrast to a Spanish government that, in her view, has lost “all its strength to deliver a message of dignity and freedom for all women” because of scandals such as the one involving Ábalos.
